Leadership in Action: Leading, Learning, and Reflecting on a Career in Academic Libraries
BIO: Patricia Iannuzzi is Dean of Libraries at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. An international expert on information literacy, Iannuzzi chaired the multi-association task force that wrote the national Information Literacy Competency Standards for Higher Education. More recently, Iannuzzi chaired the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Task Force that wrote Standards for Librarians in Higher Education. Iannuzzi has worked with higher education and accreditation associations, including, seven years on the faculty of the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) Greater Expectations Institute, and their Engaging Faculty Institute, conducting workshops on the integration of essential learning outcomes into curriculum, and offering plenary sessions on assessing student learning. She is currently a consultant to the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) developing resource materials and an institute on the integration and assessment of information literacy and critical thinking in undergraduate curricula.
Iannuzzi has over 75 invited presentations and consultations and is the author of several books, including Teaching Information Literacy Skills. She was named Academic Research Librarian of the year in 2013 by the Association of College and Research Libraries.
Iannuzzi received an undergraduate degree from Yale University and an M.S. in Information Science from Simmons College. Iannuzzi worked in libraries at the University of California, Berkeley; Florida International University, Tufts University, and Yale University
